The highest point of the Algarve is the peak of  Foia in the Serra de Monchique (906 mtr). It is cerntainly worth visiting because of the spectacular views over the Algarve and Alentejo coast. On the way up there are many restaurants serving local dishes and of course the famous chicken piri piri.
