Built in 1631 by Pero da Silva, Convento de Nossa Senhora do Desterro is today a ruin. The earthquake of 1755 severely damaged this Franciscan Convent from which one enjoys a magnificent panorama of Monchique.
On the grounds of the Convent grows a fantastic magnolia, the largest of Europe.
